This week we focused on performance optimizations, interface improvements, and preparing for our upcoming AI Assistants Beta launch.

AI Assistants Public Beta - Coming December 10!

We're excited to announce that our AI Assistants Public Beta launches Wednesday, December 10, with the testing phase running from December 13 to January 17.

What's Included in the Beta

  • Multiple AI Models: Choose from Claude, OpenAI, Gemini models
  • Workspace & Account-Level Assistants: Create assistants for one project, multiple projects, or all your workspaces
  • Team Collaboration: Share assistants with your team members
  • Custom Instructions & Knowledge Base: Upload files and configure behavior
  • Free Pro Access: Beta testers get 1 week of free Pro subscription

Faster & Smoother Experience

We made behind-the-scenes improvements to how Mantle Chat handles your encrypted messages and conversations.

What this means for you:

  • Faster loading times when opening chats with many messages
  • Better performance for users working across multiple workspaces
  • More reliable message display, even during system updates

Your conversations load quicker now, especially if you're a power user with lots of chats!

Vision Page (First Draft)

We created an internal Vision Page exploring where Mantle Chat is headed. We're taking a thoughtful approach - shaping it carefully before making it public because we want to be responsible about our messaging.

What We're Thinking About

  • Our Audience: Who is our end customer and how can we best serve them?
  • Transparency in AI Use: How we communicate our use of AI tools
  • Long-Term Planning: What does the AI landscape look like, and how do we navigate it?
  • Goals & Values: What we stand for as a company in the long run
  • Ethical Boundaries: Clear limits on what we participate in

What We Already Know

  • Transparency in AI Use: We use AI for building and we don't hide it
  • Real People Focus: Every feature addresses actual workflow challenges
  • Sustainable Growth: Building stability before broader contributions

We're adapting to reality and want to share this vision when it's ready.

Interface Updates

New Icon-Name Input Component

We built a unified input component for entities that need both icon and name:

  • Icon Picker Popover: Access to 1500+ Lucide icons and emoji support
  • Character Counter: Visual feedback on input length
  • Error State Display: Clear validation feedback
  • Dark Mode Support: Works seamlessly in both themes
  • Focus Management: Polished keyboard navigation

This component is now used consistently across:

  • Workspace creation
  • Channel creation
  • Folder creation
  • Assistant configuration

Assistants Library Interface

We refined the Assistants Library page with:

  • Search functionality for finding assistants
  • Cleaner create/edit sheet design
  • Better template-based assistant creation flow
