This week marks a historic moment for Mantle Chat — we've officially launched in public beta! 🎉

Alongside the launch, we've shipped enterprise-grade encryption, restructured our AI model tiers for better value, and introduced several major improvements that make Mantle Chat more secure, powerful, and user-friendly than ever.

We're Live in Public Beta!

After five months of dedicated development, Mantle Chat is now officially available to the public. We've welcomed our first users, and the response has been incredible!

All messages in Mantle Chat are now protected with application-level encryption at rest, giving you enterprise-grade security from day one.

What's New This Week

Improved GPT-5 Model Tiers

We've refined how GPT-5 models are organized to give you better control and value:

What's changed:

  • 📊 GPT-5 in Standard Tier: GPT-5 (with minimal reasoning) now stays in the Standard tier with 1,500 message limit
  • 💎 GPT-5 Reasoning in Premium: High-effort GPT-5 Reasoning moved to Premium tier (100 messages) due to its position as one of the top-3 most expensive LLMs globally
  • ⚡ New Minimal Effort Mode: Added "minimal" reasoning level for faster responses when you need quick answers
  • 🎯 Better Value: This structure ensures sustainable access to advanced AI while keeping costs manageable

Why this matters:

GPT-5 (High) produces extensive reasoning tokens, making it one of the most expensive models available. Our analytics over the past two weeks confirmed this, so we've restructured tiers to balance access with sustainability. You still get GPT-5 in the Standard tier for everyday use, with the full reasoning power available when you need it most.

Faster, More Reliable File Storage

We've migrated to a new storage infrastructure that makes file attachments faster and more reliable.

What's improved:

  • ⚡ Faster Uploads & Downloads: Reduced latency thanks to global edge network distribution
  • 🔒 Enhanced Security: Time-limited, secure upload and download links
  • 💰 Cost Efficiency: Better storage pricing allows us to maintain free file attachments for Pro users
  • ✅ Improved Reliability: Better error handling and automatic retry logic

Major Improvements

Enhanced Privacy Controls

Building on our encryption work, we've improved how privacy settings work throughout the app.

What's improved:

  • 🔄 Auto-Save Toggle Effects: When you disable chat auto-save, all ephemeral messages are immediately cleared
  • 🧹 Complete State Reset: Privacy settings changes are applied instantly across your session
  • 💾 Session Persistence: Privacy preferences are respected even after navigation or page reload

This ensures that when you want privacy, you get complete privacy — no residual data remains in your session.

Improved Workspace Permissions

Thread sharing permissions are now more flexible and aligned with workspace roles.

What's changed:

  • 👑 Owner & Admin Sharing: Workspace owners and admins can now share any thread in their workspace
  • 🎯 Role-Based Access: Thread sharing permissions respect workspace hierarchy
  • ✅ Better UX: Clear feedback when sharing permissions are restricted

Previously, only thread creators could share threads. Now workspace administrators have full control over shared content in their workspaces.

UI/UX Refinements

Workspace Selector Improvements:

  • Left-aligned workspace items in the switcher submenu for better readability
  • Improved text truncation for long workspace names
  • Full-width clickable areas make switching workspaces easier
  • Better responsive design for mobile and tablet screens

Theme Consistency:

  • Dynamic browser theme color updates when switching between light/dark modes
  • Better visual consistency across different browsers and platforms

Member Management:

  • Clearer tooltips explaining Pro subscription requirements for promoting members to Admin
  • Improved visual feedback for disabled actions
  • Better spacing and readability in role selection dialogs
